naptime doodle challenge

These days, sometimes I do nap duty.  I used to always do first shift nap duty when I was a full time teacher. First shift is when all the kids are wired, thinking their little cot is place where they can party. Second shift is when the storm has passed and everyone's conked out. Last week I had to sub in for nap duty and found that the first shift was so quiet. Oh. My. Goodness! They are all asleep? No struggling with children?!! I don't need to pat a back a thousand times?!! Then, I began to struggle with myself. It's really dim in the room. Snoring clogs the air. There are soothing musical notes wandering around your ears. The absence of action is pulling your eyelids down. The sandman is behind you trying to take you away when you're supposed to make sure all the nappers are safe. Agh! So, I drew a lot. Frankly, drawing in the dark is hard and probably terrible for your eyes. As you can tell, these are on the back of coloring sheets. And... pen is un-erasable. And... I am one of those careless, non-archival artists. So, excuse the scrappy quality, enjoy the concept art running around the theme of sleep. First shift blue, second shift black.
